Nesting much?

Jack is due to arrive in less than 72 hours, so Stu and I enjoyed our time together today.  We woke up late, Stu got his gift - a horseshoe set.  We got dressed and went to brunch at Cafe Adobe.  Yum.  Afterward, we went to see Rio in 3D.  Very cute.  Then it was time for a trip to Lowe's.  We needed to finish painting the tiny portion of the baby's room that we hadn't up to this point.  Why not look at patio cushions?  We found some that we both loved.  Score.

While we were at Lowe's, Stu decided to make our horseshoe game regulation size.  So we got some lumber and he went to work.

Stu got done and we enjoyed a few games of horseshoes.  I'm not great - but I have a feeling I will be getting a LOT of practice. :)

We also finished painting the baby's room, planted a few trees in the yard and did a lot of laundry.  Detailed deep cleaning on the agenda tomorrow - definitely nesting has set in full force.  But I think it was a very Happy Easter!

A little Saturday morning blogging....

This morning we woke up to some madness, but more of that to come.  Let's catch up! 

Last night, Stu and I met my mom, dad and brother, Holt at Oceanaire to celebrate Holt's birthday.  His birthday was actually on the 12th, but being away at school, we weren't able to celebrate then.  Since he's home for the weekend, we took advantage.

This reminds me, I haven't blogged about my amazing friends and Houston baby shower.  On April 3, Laura and Susan threw me a "Little Man" themed baby shower.  It was so cute, the food was awesome, the guests had a great time.  One of my favorite parts of the shower was when my friend Angie brought her daughter over to say goodbye.  Angie explained to Peyton that baby Jack was in my belly.  The look on Peyton's face was adorable.  She looked at me like "umm....no, i've seen babies and THAT is not a baby."  But she kissed him just the same before they left.  SO CUTE!

In other news, Stu and I purchased a new car!  We had been discussing getting an SUV and trading in my two door Mercedes for a while.  We finally did it and I couldn't be happier!  It's so nice.  Here's a look at our new ride.

Back to our drama this morning. 

We noticed yesterday after work yesterday that our AC wasn't cooling down properly.  We typically set it up to 79-80 when we leave the house and then turn it cooler when we get home.  Very responsible - trying to be efficient and save money.  Might not have been a great idea.... Our AC is currenly showing this:



If you've ever been nine months pregnant, you will know feels more like 150 degrees.  At least.  So this is how I spent my night and how I am able to still be sitting in this house...

Finally...A Jack update.  At my last doctor's appointment, I had only dilated another 1/2 cm, and I am 70% effaced.  We decided to induce on Wednesday, April 27 if little man has not made an appearance by then.  So I've pre-registered at the hospital, paid all the hospital bills and now....we wait.  I'm quite uncomfortable so Wednesday can't come quick enough.  My lack of ankles are also starting to hurt due to the amount of swelling.  And my poor husband is doing everything he can to keep me as comfortable as possible.  We can not wait for Jack's arrival!

Baby update!  I went to the doctor yesterday and I am 1 cm dilated, 50% effaced.  I made some good progress over the past week considering his exact words last week were "high and tight."  Awesome.  Jack already weighs 7 pounds 8 ounces.  The doctor said he'd like him to gain at least another pound and then we can discuss inducing if he hasn't made his arrival yet.  I'm getting so excited, I am so ready to meet this little man.  The ultrasound technician was a little sneaky and gave me a 3D image.  (you usually have to pay quite a bit for these pictures, so it was very generous of her).  I have to share it with you because he's just too cute!!

Cupcakes, Cowboys and all things Nautical

Since it's been a while since my last blog, I will start with a pregnancy update.  The last trimester is a little more rough than the second.  I no longer have ankles most of the time and my back and tailbone are pretty much always sore.  It's getting a little (by this, I actually mean a LOT) more difficult to do things around the house that were always easy before.  We went to the Doctor two weeks ago and little man was 5 pounds 9 ounces.  Based on how much he should be gaining per week these days, he's now up to at least 6, maybe a little over.  He's very active and really likes hanging out under my right rib cage.  I start going for weekly appointments starting Tuesday.  I officially have four weeks left. 

Remember when I said I would be better at blogging???  Well, erhm.  I lied.  Things have been crazy - getting ready for Jack's arrival made every weekend in March full of activities. 

It actually all started in February.  The last weekend of February was Stu's birthday and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo's BBQ Cook-Off.  We've gone the last three years, so I wasn't going to let a little pregnancy stop me from having a great time again this year!  We had a great time - delicious food, friends and birthday celebration - I even enjoyed a non-alcoholic adult beverage.  Yum.  I also counted about 27 other preggo's, so I wasn't alone.  Our camera was dead, so no luck on pictures.  :( 

The following weekend I went to First Monday's in Canton, TX.  My friend Jenna invited Susan and I to come to Dallas for the weekend and I was so excited.  I had always heard wonderful stories of the most amazing home goods you could find coming from Canton, so I had to see what it was all about.  The purpose of my trip was Jack, of course.  I ended up with two measly items for the little man, but I did get LOTS of great stuff for the house.  I had so much fun with Jenna and Susan - I can't wait to do it again!!  (and next time I can shop at all the precious clothes boutiques).

My wonderful Mother-in-Law arranged a shower for us in Tulsa the next weekend.  Her friends Mary and Debbie were wonderful hosts and had lots of goodies.  Delicious cupcakes.  I ate several.  It was such a great turnout and was so much fun.  Here are some pictures:

If you live in Texas, then you know the entire month of March is RODEO.  It's always time to cowboy up and go enjoy some bull ridin' and mutton bustin'!  For Valentine's Day, I bought Stu tickets to see Kid Rock so we got ready in our country wear and went to the concert.  We got there early to enjoy the BBQ and delicious fried treats.  Jack was craving a Fried Oatmeal Cream Pie.  He made a good choice. :)  The concert was great even though Stu wanted him to play a few more of his older songs.  Jack really loved Bawitdabaw.  It was the first sign that my child is going to give me trouble.  The only hard core rock song, and Jack was dancing like crazy.  I grabbed Stu's hand to let him feel the little man, and I think Stu loved feeling just how active he was.

Mom and I got to go see Miranda Lambert a few days later.  I got tickets from a vendor of mine so they were wonderful seats.  We got to enjoy the Club Level and Miranda's awesome voice.  She was a ball of energy.  I just love her.

The following weekend, my Father-in-Law and his wife came into town to spend some time with us.  We went shopping, to a delicious dinner at Truluck's (one of our favorites) and they got to see the baby's nursery.  We also went to the final show at the Rodeo - Jason Aldean.  It was so nice to spend some time with them and the concert was awesome.  I thought I didn't know that many Jason Aldean songs, but I was wrong - he has SO MANY HITS.  It was such a great time.  We even convinced Stu to buy a pair of Cowboy Boots!!

The rest of our month was dedicated to Jack's nursery, and we've made excellent progress.  I can say it's almost complete.  (With the exception of the glider and reupholstering the window seat).  He's going to love his little room.  As you know, we are going with a nautical theme.  We've painted the walls and gotten the furniture and are on the hunt for all things nautical.  Here are a few pictures so far.  Please note: don't mind the vaccum in the crib picture and the window seat is currently being recovered, so it won't be pink and green floral either.  These also aren't the best pictures as they were taken with my phone.
